Recently, Solberg tested the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 car on snow and was reminded once again why driving in rallies is so magnificent. The 2003 world champion shared a small taste of his test on his X account (ex-Twitter).

“Back in the hot seat! It was increble to be back at the helm of a rally car and proved that the passion I have for our increble sport has not changed in all these years,” Solberg wrote.

“- Ehkäpä joku kisa on vielä luvassa jossain kohtaa. Vai mitä olette mieltä? norjalaislegenda jatkoi”Maybe an event is on the cards at some point, what do all you guys think?” the Norwegian legend continued.

Solberg won his only WRC title 21 years ago driving for Subaru. The last time he was seen at the WRC level was in the 2019 Wales Rally, where he finished first in the WRC2 class driving a VW Polo R5. Last season, Solberg drove in the European Rally Championship in Sweden, but only in a demonstration class.

The Norwegian rally star will turn 50 this November, which would make for a fine opportunity to return to the WRC stages once more. During his active career, Solberg won 13 WRC rallies and stood on the podium 52 times.

In recent years, Solberg has focused on supporting his son Oliver in the WRC. Oliver Solberg drove the Hyundai Rally1 car in the 2022 season but was let go from the team and has since been building his career through the WRC2 class behind the wheel of a Skoda.
