Rovanperä announced earlier in February that he will compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux series this season.

He will participate in the series driving a RedAnt Racing Porsche 911 G3 Cup (992).

Rovanperä has now had his first opportunity to test his new car. In his latest vlog, he discusses the test experience.

In the video, Rovanperä shares that he met his new team for the first time in Brussels, Belgium, and the program included simulator driving on the first day. The following day, he got to actually drive the Porsche for the first time.

“The first test this morning went quite well,” Rovanperä comments in the video.

“We basically check that the car is working fine. We are driving with a used set of tires, so the lap times are quite OK. In the morning there was some curbs still wet from the night, so not the easiest conditions let’s say but still going quite well,” he continues.

According to Rovanperä, the Porsche race car in some ways resembles a rally car, but there are also significant differences.

“There is not much I can say you about the car because I’m not an expert,” Rovanperä laughs.

“It’s quite similar to a rally car,” he continues.

However, one clear difference from the rally car was identified.

“The car is quite special to break. There are no ABS brakes at all and the front of the car is quite light,” Rovanperä says.

“The biggest thing for me is to learn how to brake with the car and to be gentle enough on the brakes when going into the turns.”

Rovanperä tested his new Porsche in Belgium for just one day. However, the first impression was very positive. The RedAnt Racing team also received high praise from the Finnish driver.

“Everybody at the RedAnt feels really professional. I like the style they work, focusing on the things that are important and driver gets to just drive, that was really nice to see,” Rovanperä thanked.

The Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux series consists of a total of six races. The races take place in Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and Austria. Rovanperä will participate in four races this season. The season begins in May at the legendary Spa circuit in Belgium.
