The Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 will be driven on the Croatian asphalt by eight-time world champion Sebastien Ogier, along with full-season drivers Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta. This means Kalle Rovanperä will not be competing in Croatia.
Last season, Ogier also raced in Croatia, finishing fifth. During his last championship year in 2021, Ogier won in Croatia, although that event also carries some unpleasant memories for him as he collided with a civilian car during a liaison stage.
Ogier competed in his opening race of the season in Monte Carlo in January, but, to his disappointment, finished second behind Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville in his home event. In Rally Sweden in February and the upcoming Kenyan event next week, Toyota’s third factory car will be piloted by Rovanperä.
Hyundai’s WRC team has not yet announced their drivers for Croatia Rally. Esapekka Lappi, who won in Sweden and will be in the i20 N Rally1 in Kenya, is likely to make way for Andreas Mikkelsen in Croatia.
Croatia Rally will take place from April 18th to 21st.
