Tänak pulled a clear fastest time, 4.3 seconds ahead of his teammate Thierry Neuville. This means Tänak is firmly in line for the biggest points haul of the final day, as separate points are awarded for the seven fastest on Sunday based on the day’s results.
Tänak has a clear 15.5-second lead over Neuville in Sunday’s standings, who moved ahead of Toyota’s Elfyn Evans.
Evans experienced some sort of issue on the second run through the Oserian special stage, as TV footage showed his Toyota not reaching anywhere near top speed. Evans ultimately finished a full 17.9 seconds behind Tänak’s fastest time.
Toyota’s Kalle Rovanperä continues in a strong lead in the overall standings of the Safari Rally. Rovanperä again drove conservatively but still maintains a one-and-a-half-minute lead over his teammate Takamoto Katsuta at the front of the rally.
M-Sport Ford’s Adrien Fourmaux is on track for his second consecutive third-place finish. Evans is in fourth in the overall standings, with Neuville in fifth.
