Toyota’s Elfyn Evans moved into the lead, but the gap to Kalle Rovanperä is only 0.1 seconds. The special stage was again halted due to spectators, preventing Andreas Mikkelsen from driving at full speed. The Norwegian will receive a notional time later.
The same Wieliczki stage was also stopped in the morning, which prevented Rovanperä from driving the special stage at full speed.
“It was not easy to match the guys when they did the stage in the morning. It was a clean run with our shit pacenotes,” Rovanperä said.
Latvian Martins Sesks continues his good rally in the M-Sport Ford without a hybrid unit. Sesks is in third place, 4.2 seconds behind Evans. However, Mikkelsen will rise to the lead once he receives a notional time from the stewards.
M-Sport Ford’s Adrien Fourmaux and Gregoire Munster have also started well. Fourmaux is in fifth place ahead of Munster. Championship leader Thierry Neuville, who made a driving error in the morning, is already nearly half a minute behind the leader.
Sami Pajari continues to lead the WRC2 class. The Finn is also impressively in eighth place overall.
Two more special stages will be driven in Rally Poland on Friday. The competition will end on Sunday.
