Terrible news: rally driver dies in a crash

Sad news has emerged from the Czech Republic. Michal Fikejs has passed away following a crash.

Fikejs went off the road during the national-level Podorlicka Rally competition and succumbed to his injuries. The accident occurred during the sixth special stage of the rally last Saturday.

Fikejs hit a tree with his Ford Fiesta Rally4 car and sustained fatal injuries.

Fikejs received first aid on the spot and was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries later on Sunday morning.

Fikejs was only 27 years old at the time of his death. The accident took place during a CMPR series competition.

“You are one of us, and we are with you. Friends, competitors, organizers, and spectators. Michal, thank you. Sincere condolences to the bereaved,” the rally organizer conveyed on the CMPR series website.

Before the tragic news was confirmed, the competition was able to be completed. The rally was won by Daniel Suk in his Subaru.

Michal Fikejs had been competing in the Czech CMPR series since 2021. His co-driver this year was Lukas Novak.
