Toyota still has a chance to clinch the manufacturers’ championship on home soil, though it would require a stellar performance. Hyundai, which has already secured the drivers’ championship, holds a 15-point lead over Toyota in the manufacturers’ standings.
As the season nears its end, attention is already shifting to 2025. None of the WRC teams have yet revealed their final line-ups for next season, but Toyota is set to answer some key questions immediately following Rally Japan.
Toyota has scheduled a press conference on Monday, 25 November, to discuss the 2024 season recap and unveil plans for 2025. The team’s line-up for next year is expected to be confirmed at the event.
Wild speculation has linked new drivers to Toyota, but the team is widely expected to continue with its current roster next year. Kalle Rovanperä is set to return as a full-time driver, and along with the Finnish star, Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta are anticipated to participate in all the events.
Sebastien Ogier is likely to continue in his part-time role with the team. Sami Pajari has been tipped to take on more rallies with Toyota’s Rally1 machinery next year, potentially alternating events with Ogier.
Rally Japan takes place from 21-24 November around Toyota City. Toyota’s press conference will be held in Nagoya a day after the event concludes, on Monday morning Central European time.
