Tragic news from Hungary – four killed in rally accident

Four people have died and eight others were injured when a rally car crashed into spectators at the Esztergom-Nyerges Rally in Hungary on Sunday. The accident occurred on Sunday morning on a special stage between the villages of Lábatlan and Bajót.

According to reports from the news site 24.hu, the causes of the accident are not yet known. Investigations have been initiated to clarify the tragic events.

There were a total of eight ambulances and four rescue helicopters at the scene.

“Unfortunately, the lives of four individuals could not be saved. One child with critical life-threatening injuries, one person with severe injuries, and six people (including one child) with minor injuries were transported to the hospital after receiving on-site treatment,” a local authority reported.

Videos of the incident are circulating on social media, but RallyJournal.com will not share them.

The car that veered off the road was a Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo. The vehicle left the road on a slippery asphalt section at high speed.

The Esztergom-Nyerges Rally was immediately halted following the crash.
