Andreas Mikkelsen started his rally career at the age of 17 and drove his first World Rally Championship event at the same age in Wales in 2006. In 2008, Mikkelsen achieved his first points by finishing fifth in Rally Sweden.
During his time with Volkswagen, Mikkelsen won three events. The 2018 season was poor for Mikkelsen, but the Norwegian has been under contract with Hyundai since 2019.
The Norwegian driver competed in the 2017 season first with Citroen, but for the last three races of the season, he was part of the Hyundai team. Mikkelsen continued with Hyundai in 2019 but found himself without a factory team position in 2020. The COVID-affected season saw Mikkelsen claim two European Rally Championships and one WRC event win driving a Skoda Rally2 car.
In 2021, the Norwegian delivered impressive performances behind the wheel of a Skoda Fabia, winning both the WRC2 championship and the European Rally Championship.
In the 2023 season, Andreas Mikkelsen won the WRC2 class championship. His success did not go unnoticed, and for 2024, the Norwegian driver moved to drive Hyundai’s third Rally1 car, participating in a selection of the season’s events.
