Croatia made its WRC debut in 2021 and remained part of the championship until this year. It opted out of the 2025 WRC calendar due to insufficient government funding for the event.

Now, the Croatian government has once again decided to support the rally organisers. The Rally Croatia has been granted a three-year financial package worth €4.4 million from the state, aimed at hosting a European Rally Championship event in 2025 and a WRC round in 2026-27.

Of the funding, €400,000 is allocated for next year’s ERC event, while €2 million per year is earmarked for the WRC rounds.

“The government has given strong support to the organisation of the World Rally Championship in Croatia. Despite the very tight deadlines set by the organisers, we managed to ensure the continuation of one of the world’s biggest competitions in our country for the next three years,” Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports, Tonči Glavina, said.

“The World Rally Championship was held in Croatia from 2021 to 2024, and the government supported all four editions with a total of more than 3 million euros. In this new three-year period, the support is even stronger, and we believe these competitions will further contribute to both our sports and tourism promotion,” Glavina added.

Among the WRC teams, Toyota has celebrated victory in every Croatian WRC round. In 2021, Sebastien Ogier took the win, Kalle Rovanperä triumphed in 2022, Elfyn Evans claimed victory last year, and this season, Ogier was once again the champion in Croatia.

The calendar for next year’s European Rally Championship has not yet been confirmed, but as it stands, Croatia is set to host an ERC round in 2025.
