Sesks first drove the M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1 car at the Rally Poland in late June. Despite the car lacking a hybrid unit and its additional power, the Latvian driver finished fifth.

In his home rally in Latvia, Sesks performed even better with a fully-equipped Rally1 car, setting his first fastest stage times and being in strong contention for a podium finish.

However, a technical issue on the final stage dropped him to seventh place. Nonetheless, Sesks had already made a significant impact in the WRC.

Following these stellar performances, speculation arose about whether Sesks might drive a Rally1 car again this season. The rumours intensified this week when veteran rally journalist Colin Clark hinted on his Instagram story that we probably won’t “have to wait too long until we see him (Sesks) again.” Sesks further fuelled the rumours by sharing Clark’s story on his own Instagram profile.

Sesks competed in Poland and Latvia with support from the WRC Promoter and M-Sport Ford. The promoter provided financial backing, while M-Sport offered the vehicle.

The Latvian rally hopeful certainly provided value to his supporters, crafting a nearly perfect marketing story for both the promoter and M-Sport Ford.

If Sesks gets another chance later this season, there are essentially two possibilities: Greece or Chile. Chile seems the most likely as a fast gravel event, aligning well with Sesks’ preference for such terrains.

Central European and Japanese tarmac rallies are unlikely options as Sesks hasn’t shown notable success in tarmac events.
