Fourmaux has had a breakout season in the World Rally Championship this year. Expectations were not high for the Frenchman before the season, but he has achieved four podium finishes in WRC events, establishing himself as one of the series’ rising stars.
Unsurprisingly, Fourmaux has been a hot topic in this year’s driver market. M-Sport has expressed its desire to continue working with him, but strong rumours have linked him to a potential seat with Hyundai’s WRC team.
What came out of the blue, however, was Fourmaux’s recent comment in the More than Machine documentary series, where he claimed he had received an offer from Toyota.
According to Fourmaux, Hyundai has offered him a full-season deal, which he finds appealing. He stated that Toyota had proposed a half-season contract, which he found less attractive.

Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala was taken aback by Fourmaux’s claim.
“I can honestly say that I, for one, have not made such an offer,” Latvala told RallyJournal.com.
“I saw the comment myself. Fourmaux has asked us if we have space for him, but I have not made him an offer. I was quite surprised by his statement,” Latvala added.
Latvala clarified that Fourmaux has not been seriously discussed within the team.
“He (Fourmaux) has approached us about this, but we have not made any formal offer,” Latvala emphasised.
Latvala has previously said that Toyota will likely continue with the same driver line-up as this year. However, some changes are expected, with Kalle Rovanperä set to return as a full-season driver and Sami Pajari likely to take on a more significant role with the Rally1 car.
