While Toyota has already confirmed its full line-up and Hyundai has named two drivers, M-Sport Ford remains silent on its plans for next season.
This year, the Ford Puma was driven by Adrien Fourmaux, who had an impressive season, and Gregoire Munster. Latvian sensation Martins Sesks also got the opportunity to compete in a few events with M-Sport’s equipment.
Fourmaux has been linked with a move to Hyundai, though the Frenchman has also indicated that staying with Ford remains a possibility. Munster, on the other hand, is unlikely to have suitors outside M-Sport.
M-Sport team principal Richard Millener provided little clarity during the WRC season finale in Japan.
“Not much to share yet. There are still a lot of discussions ongoing. You know us – we’re always the last to join the party,” Millener laughed.
“So we’ll see what we can do. I mean, we have the same ethos as always: we want to field the strongest line-up of people that we possibly can. But we just have to be realistic about what we can achieve,” Millener emphasised.
One thing is clear: M-Sport doesn’t have an abundance of options for the Ford Puma’s drivers.
“There is not so many options,” Millener admitted.
“And I think it’s relatively easy to imagine who we might be talking to. But now we just have to try and pull it all together. It’s still not easy,” he added.
In addition to the team’s current drivers, names like Sesks, Oliver Solberg, and Yohan Rossel have been linked to M-Sport in the rumour mill.
