The 19-year-old, known from the Finnish Rally Championship, will make his debut in the WRC3 class, which will also be his first-ever WRC event. The young driver will be driving a more powerful car on the gravel roads of Central Finland, as he enters the event in a Rally3 car from KMS Racing.

In the Finnish Rally Championship, Dahlqvist has been driving a front-wheel-drive Rally4 car. His familiar co-driver Patric Öhman will be reading the notes for him.

Jumping to the WRC3 class in a powerful four-wheel-drive car is a dream come true for the young driver. The four-day event will also be the first step in his career plans for the upcoming seasons.

“It’s incredible to get the opportunity to drive in the Finnish WRC Rally, and with a four-wheel-drive car no less. I’ve been dreaming of this ever since I first got the rally bug,” Dahlqvist enthuses.

His first experience with Rally3 equipment alongside KMS Racing was at the Rantaralli in early June, where he finished third overall. Currently serving his military service, Dahlqvist is trying to prepare for the upcoming event as his duties allow.

“Military service takes some time away from preparation, but we aim to do some testing before the rally. My leave will definitely be used for tests and note practice, and I’ll watch videos of recent years’ special stages whenever I can,” Dahlqvist explains.

The Rally Finland will be held in Jyväskylä from 1st to 4th August.
