Fourmaux made a spectacular return to the WRC’s top class this year. The Frenchman claimed his first podium finish in just the second rally of the season in Sweden, and since then, he has taken three more podiums.

Representing M-Sport Ford, Fourmaux has been one of the hottest names on the driver market this summer. He’s been linked to Hyundai in rumours, while M-Sport has also expressed its desire to continue working with the French driver.

Fourmaux admits he’s been negotiating in multiple directions for some time. He has clear expectations for his next contract.

“My first choice for 2025 is to have a full season in Rally1. We’ve been having discussions with almost everyone since Portugal, which is usually the rally where these conversations begin. I handle a lot on my own, but I have someone who can advise me when needed,” Fourmaux explained in an interview with French site rallye-sport.fr.

“Since the beginning of my career, there’s always been some uncertainty at the end of the season, and I’d like to have things settled earlier this year. We’ll see. If it’s a two-year deal, that would be great. If it’s just one year, that’s how it is – I’m used to it,” Fourmaux added.

Fourmaux currently sits fifth in the WRC standings with three rounds remaining. Elfyn Evans, who started the season as Toyota’s so-called lead driver, is only ten points ahead of the Ford driver.

“The goal is clearly to catch up with him and overtake him, with three rallies still to go. A lot can still happen, and points can quickly slip away, just like we saw with Sebastien Ogier (at the Acropolis Rally,” Fourmaux said.

“We’re also 28 points away from second place in the championship. That’s still a significant gap to close, especially with this points system, but it’s on our mind.”

The next round of the WRC season will take place in Chile in two weeks.
