Adrien Fourmaux has been this season’s sensation. The Frenchman, who sought to gain experience from the “farm side” last year, has reaped the benefits this year.
This season, Fourmaux has earned his first podium finishes and has shown consistent and steady performance.
In the recently concluded Rally de Portugal, Fourmaux finished fourth, once again proving he can compete at the top level.
“To see the consistency Adrien is now showcasing on each event is fantastic to se every race,” praised Ford team principal Richard Millener.
“He had a difficult road position on this event but didn’t let it affect his approach which has resulted in another great result,” continued Millener.
However, William Creighton in the WRC2 class and Gregoire Munster in a Rally1 car didn’t fare as well in Portugal. Creighton finished 12th in his class, and Munster spoiled his rally on the final special stage by getting stuck in a ditch.
“Grégoire and William had a few setbacks on the event, but in general I think, they should both be happy with the pace they showed and the valuable experience they have gained,” Millener commented graciously.
Munster, in his debut season in the top class, has not had a successful year. Following the Rally Portugal, he was not looking for excuses.
“Rally Portugal didn’t end well for us, we got hooked up in a cut and landed stuck on a ditch by the sump guard, and unfortunately we couldn’t continue,” Munster stated.
“All in all, we learned plenty during this rally. By opening the road on Saturday we had to do a lot of cleaning; it wasn’t easy but it was good learning for us. We also saw our times improve throughout the weekend, on the second passes, on a rally that was basically new for us. We will carry the experience on to Sardinia in a couple of weeks,” Munster expressed his optimism.
