Late on Saturday night, rally champion Rovanperä was chosen as the Motorsport Athlete of the Year during the national federation AKK’s gala cruise. On Sunday evening, Rovanperä received recognition at the prestigious Autosport magazine’s award gala in London.

Rovanperä was selected as the International Rally Driver of the Year at the Autosport Awards event. The Finnish star could not collect the trophy in person this time, but his video greeting was shown at the gala.

“It is a great honor to receive the Rally Driver of the Year award. Unfortunately, I cannot celebrate itwith you, but this has been another great year. Let’s hope for success next year as well, Rovanperä said.”

In addition to Rovanperä, his Toyota team-mates Elfyn Evans and Sebastien Ogier, as well as M-Sport Ford’s Ott Tänak were nominated for the title.

The Finnish driver received the trophy for the second consecutive year. This was not a surprise as such, since Rovanperä renewed his championship this year.

Rovanperä is expected to receive more awards this week when the International Automobile Federation FIA’s award gala is held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, on Friday, December 8. Next year, Rovanperä is unlikely to be able to compete for the championship, as he will only drive about half of the 2024 World Rally Championship rounds. Rovanperä plans to take a breather from the rally routine, but he intends to come back full force for the 2025 season.”
