Police reveal grim details of rally accident that killed four spectators

Hungarian police have initiated a criminal investigation into the tragic accident that occurred on Sunday.

During the Esztergom-Nyerges Rally held in Hungary, a grave conclusion was reached when a rally car crashed into a crowd of spectators, causing the death of four individuals. On Monday, the police reported that a criminal procedure has been initiated regarding the incident.

The driver of a Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo lost control and veered off the road during the fifth special stage between the villages of Lábatlan and Bajót. The accident site saw the arrival of eight ambulances and four rescue helicopters, but the lives of four spectators could not be saved.

The police have now disclosed additional details about the accident. It occurred in an area where spectators were prohibited, and there was also a warning sign indicating the restriction. The casualties included three men and one woman, all of whom died at the scene. No children were among the deceased.

Furthermore, one child and one adult were critically injured and rushed to the hospital. Five other individuals sustained serious injuries, and one person suffered minor injuries.

Proceedings are being conducted against an unknown perpetrator on suspicion of committing the offense of negligent endangerment causing fatal mass accident.

The tragedy of the Hungarian rally serves as a grim reminder that rally events should only be watched from safe viewing areas.
