Toksport has already lost the team’s championship, but the WRC2 drivers’ title is still up for grabs with two rounds remaining. Currently, the team’s driver Oliver Solberg leads the WRC2 standings, but both Yohan Rossel and Sami Pajari still have chances to overtake the Swede.

Solberg drove his final points rally last weekend in Chile, where a victory would have secured him the title. However, Solberg had to settle for fourth place, which opened the door for Rossel and Pajari.

Rossel’s last WRC2 points event is the upcoming Central European Rally in two weeks. By winning the tarmac rally, the Frenchman would take the lead by three points over Solberg.

Pajari, on the other hand, has the chance to snatch the title in the season’s final event in Japan, where second place would likely be enough for him to claim the championship.

However, Toksport does not plan to make Pajari’s task easy. The team’s strategy is to send British driver Gus Greensmith to the event, with the goal of beating Pajari and taking valuable points away from the Finn.

“He still has a job to do – hopefully for me here and because he has nothing to fight for, unfortunately. It would be very nice if he could help me a little bit,” Solberg expressed his hopes.

Greensmith is ready to support his teammate in the season’s final rally, should there still be a need.

“I will do everything I can in Japan to help Oliver as much as I can. That will be the main focus in Japan,” Greensmith promised.

Solberg and Greensmith are also competing in Central European Rally, but neither is chasing WRC2 points there. Rossel is the clear favourite to win the Central Europe event.

Central European Rally will take place from 17-20 October. The Japanese round will be held in late November.
