WRC stars battled for points in Kenya last weekend, but the next event is just a couple of weeks away. Points will be fought for in Croatia after mid-April.

Top class teams Toyota and M-Sport Ford kicked off their preparatory tests for the Croatian tarmac rally already on Wednesday. The testing session for Toyota was opened by Japanese driver Takamoto Katsuta, who finished second in the Safari Rally.

The Croatia Rally has been held three times, and each time Katsuta has finished sixth. The Japanese driver is certainly eager for a better result this spring.

In M-Sport Ford’s tests, Gregoire Munster, who is competing in his first full season in the main class of the WRC, got up to speed. Munster has not previously competed in Croatia with a Rally1 car, so his goal is to gather valuable experience during the race weekend.

In addition to Katsuta, Elfyn Evans, who is second in the WRC standings, and French star Sebastien Ogier will compete in Croatia with Toyota’s Rally1 car. Safari Rally winner Kalle Rovanperä will skip the competition.

Munster and Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux, in turn, form the M-Sport Ford driver duo for the tarmac rally.

On Wednesday, Finnish driver Sami Pajari, who will compete in Croatia in Toyota’s Rally2 car, also got up to speed during the tests.

The Croatia Rally is scheduled for April 18-21.
