Fourmaux drove another strong weekend in Rally de Portugal, finishing fourth.

In Portugal, Fourmaux again delivered an extremely consistent performance, keeping pace with the leaders. Although the Frenchman had to relinquish the third place in the drivers’ championship to Hyundai’s Ott Tänak, it was still a strong display of his capabilities.

He drove another flawless weekend, even though his starting position was not ideal.

“I think we can be really happy, because it wasn’t so easy to be third on the road on the opening days,” Fourmaux commented.

“I think we have shown really good pace considering that, keeping close to the leaders and fighting today (Sunday) with the top guys who are fighting for the victory,” Fourmaux continued.

M-Sport has managed to build a reliable and high-performing car for this season. It is a remarkable feat, as M-Sport is the only team in the WRC’s top class that is not a full-fledged factory team.

Fourmaux almost ran out of superlatives when praising his car.

“The car has been perfect, no issues at all and we’re pleased with our performance. It gives us confidence for the next rally in Sardinia,” Fourmaux praised.

Fourmaux, 28, gained momentum from the WRC2 last season, but it has evidently done the Frenchman a world of good. He has taken his first podium finishes in the top class this season and it may not be long before Fourmaux becomes the next French rally winner.

The World Rally Championship continues in less than three weeks in Sardinia.
