This season’s fifth round was held last weekend in Portugal, with the event concluding with a victory for Toyota’s Sebastien Ogier.

During the event weekend, it was also confirmed that Portugal will remain part of the WRC for the coming seasons. The contract for this classic event in the championship has been extended until 2026.

“It is a big pleasure for me to confirm 2025 and 2026. We have an exceptional relationship with the promoter in terms of the event and the activations around it. Over the past 20 years Rally Portugal has asserted itself as one of the best rallies in the world,” said Carlos Barbosa, the president of the Automovel Club de Portugal, which organizes the event.

“Vodafone Rally de Portugal has once again earned its position on the FIA World Rally Championship calendar. This is a deserved recognition and we hope it continues for many years to come,” said Jona Siebel, WRC Promoter Managing Director.

Rally de Portugal has been held 57 times. It was part of the very first WRC season in 1973.

In recent years, the event has been hosted in the northern part of the country, around the city of Matosinhos.
