The Eifel Rallye Festival is scheduled for August around the town of Daun, Germany. It was already known that the two-time world rally champion Marcus Grönholm would participate in the exhibition rally, but now he will be joined by another Finnish rally veteran, Harri Rovanperä.

Grönholm and Rovanperä were teammates at Peugeot in the early 2000s. The last time they competed in the same event was at the 2006 Wales Rally GB.

The organizers of the Eifel Rallye Festival have confirmed that Rovanperä will participate driving a Peugeot 307 WRC. The Finn competed in the World Rally Championship with a similar car in the 2004 season.

“I’ve heard a lot about this Festival and I’m looking forward to finally taking part in it myself,” Rovanperä said.

Rovanperä was also asked whether his son, two-time world champion Kalle Rovanperä, might also attend the event. To this, father Rovanperä did not give a definitive answer.

Over 200 crews registered for the Eifel Rallye Festival, but not all applicants could be accommodated. Among other former rally champions, Swedish driver Stig Blomqvist will also participate.

The event will take place from August 15-17.
