Ogier has claimed the World Rally Championship title eight times. This year, the French star has surprisingly risen as a contender for his ninth title, despite missing three WRC events.
Since 2022, Ogier has opted for partial rally seasons with Toyota. That same year, he also tested his skills in circuit racing in the WEC series and competed in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
However, the rally champion’s venture into circuit racing was short-lived. But it’s likely that we’ll still see Ogier on the track in the future.
He has a particular series in mind.
“DTM has always been something I’ve had my eye on as I’m now living in Germany. My wife works in this series, and I’ve been to the races many times now. It’s something I could consider in the future because I like circuit racing and enjoy testing myself in different situations,” Ogier told RallyJournal.com
DTM, or Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters in German, was established in 2000. The races have also been held outside of Germany – this season’s calendar includes the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands and the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Over the years, the series has attracted several big names from Formula 1. Ogier would be another impressive addition to the series.
“But right now, there’s still no plan. So, I can tell you that it most likely won’t happen next year.” Ogier revealed.
Ogier’s hint suggests that his career in the World Rally Championship might continue beyond this season. However, Ogier has made it clear that he won’t be doing a full rally season anymore.
“As long as this situation makes both sides happy, meaning both my team and myself, and we continue getting good results together, I think there’s a good chance of that continuing,” Ogier said.
