Ogier leads the event by 6.2 seconds before the final Power Stage. Only a mistake or technical issue can prevent the French star from claiming his third consecutive victory.
“Never comfortable for sure, but we’re controlling the gap,” Ogier summarised.
Hyundai’s Ott Tänak, who is in second place, is fighting hard for points on Super Sunday. His teammate Thierry Neuville, who retired on Saturday, is leading Sunday’s results, but the gap to Tänak is just 0.2 seconds. Toyota’s Elfyn Evans is third in Sunday’s standings, ahead of Ogier and Hyundai’s Dani Sordo.
“It’s been game on since the morning,” Tänak said.
“It’s massive cleaning in there, there are two lines with deep ruts and lots of gravel. I couldn’t find the traction, but I did what I could. I’m not gonna ask (Ott) for anything, I’m gonna do my rally,” Neuville remarked.
In the overall standings, Sordo is third, nearly two and a half minutes behind the leader. Evans is fourth, ahead of M-Sport Ford’s Gregoire Munster.
Sami Pajari continues to lead the WRC2 class and is impressively sixth overall. He is 18 seconds behind Rally1 driver Munster.
“On the morning loop maybe I had a chance against (Munster), but now it is gone. I still think not to be disappointed,” Pajari said.
There is one more special stage to be run on Sunday in Rally Sardinia.
