Many experts predicted that the British team, with Adrien Fourmaux and Gregoire Munster, would have to settle for the lower ranks, but M-Sport has proven these predictions wrong right from the start of the season.

Fourmaux clinched his second consecutive podium finish in Kenya this weekend, finishing third. In Sweden in February, Fourmaux was on the podium for the first time in his career.

“We knew that we could achieve this position. But we also realised we needed a few things to go our way. But also Adrien, to drive like he drove, you had to keep that in mind,” team principal Richard Millener praised to RallyJournal.com

“He chose his stages, knew where to push, and where to back off. This man is really good.”

M-Sport has also demonstrated that the car is reliable when needed. Last season, Estonian star Ott Tänak occasionally gave harsh feedback to the British team, but this year has started favorably for M-Sport.

“We received a lot of criticism last year. In these last three rallies, Adrien achieved two podiums. I think that speaks for itself in some way. So, okay, we’re putting pressure on ourselves now for the rest of the year,” Millener summarized.

“The strategy in Croatia can’t be like this, just waiting and hoping for things to happen. It’s still going to be a gradual build. Nothing crazy.”

The World Rally Championship continues in Croatia in mid-April.
