Born in Corsica, Pierre-Louis Loubet started his rally career in 2015. He immediately competed in six events in the World Rally Championship, finishing sixth in the JWRC. Loubet’s father, Yves Loubet, also competed in rally and won the European Rally Championship in the 1989 season.
The younger Loubet drove in the WRC2 class for the 2016-17 seasons with Citroen and Ford equipment but without significant success. The Corsican’s breakthrough year came in 2019 when Loubet won the WRC2 class championship. He achieved class victories in Portugal and Sardinia.
During 2020-21, Loubet drove a Hyundai WRC car in a total of 11 rallies, but the success was quite minimal. For the 2022 season, Loubet and his partners purchased a seven-rally program from M-Sport Ford. The British team’s Rally1 car suited Loubet much better, and he managed fourth places in both Sardinia and Greece.
His good performances secured Loubet a full-season program with M-Sport for the 2023 season.
The year 2023 was disastrous for the French driver. In the 12 competitions he participated in, Loubet only managed to finish five times.
Pierre-Louis Loubet is finally starting his season in the World Rally Championship, competing for points this coming weekend in Portugal.
Kris Meeke clinched a dominant victory in the Portuguese Rally Championship event that concluded on Saturday.
Teemu Suninen will open his season in two weeks at the Rally de Portugal.
Pierre-Louis Loubet will compete in the WRC2 class of the World Rally Championship in the upcoming season.
Rumors are heating up in the World Rally Championship, even though the 2024 season is just around the corner.
