The event ended for him with an off from the lead on Saturday morning. On Sunday, there was not much he could do as the Finnish star was the first car on the route. From the Power Stage that concluded the event, Rovanperä took three WRC points, and he earned two more points from the sixth position in Sunday’s overall times.

“The best thing is that the weekend is now over. Nothing was gained. Today we tried to do what we could as the first car. It was slippery on the Power Stage, but I think the drive was quite good. It wasn’t enough for a better result, Rovanperä summarised.

“Clearly, this was an unsuccessful event. Of course, it’s frustrating, but since my own championship battle isn’t at stake, maybe a bit less so. Now the only job was to bring points to the team, and we failed in that.”

Next up for Rovanperä is a summer break. Rovanperä will not compete in the next WRC event in Sardinia in early June. Instead, it is highly likely that the two-time champion will drive in the fast summer gravel rallies in Poland, Latvia, and Finland

“This year is a shorter season for that reason, so there is more time. Now, for once, I have a bit of a summer holiday. That sounds very nice. I don’t know yet what I will do, just lots of nice things,” Rovanperä summarised.

“I’m looking forward to the holiday, as I haven’t had a proper summer holiday for years. It’s nice to finally have a longer break.”
